Reader's Poll

In September,  a group of musicians and promoters from Brighton's experimental music scene banded together and organised a festival in Newhaven Fort.

Tickets for Fort Process sold out well in advance and the event was widely accalimed by performers, audiences and the press.

But not everyone was happy.  The Taxpayers Alliance recently called it gimmicky and a reckless, unsustainble waste of public money.

DIY collective, Lost Property received a £25,000 grant from the Arts Council England to stage the event.

Without it,  they say the day which brought tourism and culture to the deprived town would not have been possible.

Lost Property failed to get another grant to stage the festival again this year and are concerned about the future of arts funding.
