Between 1977 and 1980,  the Vault beneath what is now Brighthelm church was home to 64 bands.

When London punks were stil chanting 'no future', Brighton's scene mixed radical politics and a healthy dose of humour.

DIY promoters Lost Property and the Arts Council were criticised by the Taxpayer's Alliance for putting on a 'gimmiky' festival in Newhaven.

The festival brought together fans and experimental musicans from across the UK and around the world in Abandoned Fort last September.

The event was critically acclaimed and tickets sold out well in advance.  But the organisers failed to get funding from the Arts Council to do it again.

Do you think public money should be used for events like Fort Process? Take our poll and have your say.
